The video is finally ready, after a lot of effort might I add. Over the past year I have perfected this recipe. The lockdown gave us all opportunities to learn things that we otherwise would avoid. Friends and family have had my Pizza’s and have loved it. Some even didn’t believe it, that I made it at home all on my own. When I was in Bangalore, I used to order the fresh herbs from Gourmet Garden, they really have the freshest herbs. The sauce came out so well when I used Fresh Oregano, Basil, Thyme and Rosemary. Now that I have moved to Hyderabad, I am still figuring out what I can get and where I can get it. So this time around I got my fresh herbs from Amazon Fresh.
Yes, this is a long recipe. It is detailed. I have made the sauce, the base and shown how to assemble the pizza as well. The sauce takes time, about 20 minutes, I would suggest making this either in the morning or a night before. So it is a little less cumbersome the day you make your pizza. The base recipe is 80% whole wheat and 20% all purpose flour or maida. It takes about 6-8 minutes to knead this with yeast. The baked dough is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Baking time is a maximum of 20 minutes. With this recipe you can easily make around 8 thin crust pizzas and around 5 thick crust pizzas, you can choose how thick you want it!
Here is an interesting trick, to get the pizza to taste amazing, I season the base with dried oregano or Italian seasoning and a little bit of cheese, the base absorbs the flavour while baking. The quantity of the sauce is really adequate, I actually had some left over; so I am going to make pasta soon!
The sauce is extremely tasty, it is better than any store bought sauce and costs a fraction actually. You just need a good blender or food processor for the sauce.
Do look at the recipe and let me know if you have any doubts, feedback or suggestions?
